Built in 1879 and converted into a heritage hotel in 1984, Nilambag Palace Hotel, a historic gem in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, was once the lavish residence of Maharaja Saheb Takhatsinhji. History

Descendants of the illustrious Gohil Rajput clan own Nilambag Palace Hotel. Originating from Rajasthan, they established their presence in Gujarat during the 12th and 13th centuries, settling in Sejakpur. Their journey through the region led them to Ranpur before establishing a kingdom at Gogha port.

Ultimately, in 1723, Bhav Sinhji Gohil founded Bhavnagar as the dynasty’s capital. Under the visionary leadership of HH Maharaja Raol Takhatsinhji Jaswantsinhji Sahib (1870-1896), the state underwent significant modernisation, with the construction of extensive railways, roads, and public infrastructure and the implementation of judicial reforms.

His successors, Maharaja Bhav Sinhji and Maharaja Krishnakumar Sinhji, continued this legacy of progress and introduced further advancements.
