The Bell Guest House, located on a 24-acre estate, is a charming heritage homestay that upholds its hospitality legacy. Made in 1870 for British officers, this Indo-European structure features a large verandah overlooking a picturesque garden with lush trees, a lotus pond, and a giant outdoor chessboard. While not opulently luxurious, it offers homely comfort in a vintage setting, with six of its ten rooms welcoming guests seeking tranquillity and home-style Indian and Western cuisine.

History

Sayla, once a stronghold of the Jhala Rajputs from Sindh, became the capital of Seshmalji I Raisinhji in 1751 after he seized it from the Kathi Darbars. He fortified the town and built the Darbargadh or Rajmahal, which remains the royal residence. The Bell Guest House, run by a royal scion, is a testament to this rich history. It retains its identity as a colonial-era guesthouse while evolving into a welcoming space for travellers.
