Danta was an 895 square km princely state ruled by the Parmar Rajput clan, descendants of the great King Vikramaditya of Ujjain. After ruling from Chandrawati and then Tarsang, the Parmars made Danta their headquarters three hundred and eighty years ago. The Maharana of Danta was entitled to an 11 gun salute. |

The owners of the property, Mahipendra Singh and Chandra Kumari, erstwhile Maharana and Maharani of Danta, run Bhavani Villa with their son, Riddhiraj Singh, and daughter in law Divyajyoti Devi. The family is keenly interested in indigenous breeds of horses and riding, with a commitment to preserving the indigenous Marwari horses. They are also keen dog enthusiasts, and involved with the Indian National Kennel Club. Mahipendra Singh and Riddhiraj Singh have judged many horse and dog shows. Sports, birdwatching and motor biking are other family pursuits. |

Hailing from the Karauli Princely State in Rajasthan, she specializes in Rajput cuisines with some western and other dishes. The owners also operate a restaurant in Danta, which offers vegetarian food, including Jain-friendly dishes. |

ATTRACTIONS IN 100KM RADIUS OF THE PROPERTYTaranga Jain complex (32km): Scenically set among rocky hills, the 12th century Ajithnath temple was built by the Chalukyan king Kumarapala Solanki, a disciple of the Jain scholar, Acharya Hemachandra. A large Jain temple, its exterior walls and shikhara are covered with fine sculptures. A unique feature of the complex is that both the major Jain sects, Shvetambaras and the Digambaras, visit the shrines of Taranga. Ambaji (21km): One of India’s holiest temples, Ambaji is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Kumbhariya Jain temples (20km): This complex of Jain temples built between 1062 and 1134AD is an architectural marvel. The temples have splendid marble carvings with intricate work. Palanpur (42km): An erstwhile princely state, Palanpur has palaces and other princely relics. Sidhpur (65km): Sidhpur is a Hindu holy place and has the remains of the 12th century Rudramalaya temple. It is also well known for its majestic mansions of the Bohras, a mercantile Muslim community. Finely embroidered Bohra caps and clothing can be bought here. Mount Abu (72km): The premier hill station of Rajasthan, Mount Abu has many palaces, the Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary and the exquisitely carved 11th-12th century Dilwara Jain temples. Patan (93km): Traditional Rajput cuisine, Both veg and non-veg, Jain food etc.. |
